  22.  akPNG.datatype is a new PNG datatype, which is based on the
  23.  latest PNG sources (zlib V1.0.2, pnglib V0.88).
  24.  
  25.  So it does support 8 Bit color mapped files and True color files
  26.  (16, 24/32, 48 Bit) while 16 Bit (5:5:5/5:6:5) will be expanded,
  27.  and 48 Bit (16:16:16) will be cut down to 24 Bit (8:8:8)

  29.  With V39-V42 picture.datatype it produces 256 color palette-based
  30.  output (256 colors exported unmodified, 24 Bit data converted to
  31.  either HAM 6 or HAM 8) with Ralph Schmidt's picture.datatype V43 any
  32.  24 Bit output will be done unmodified.
